| Pyramid Scheme Vs. Every Other Business - It's Not About The Shape |
IT'S NOT THE SHAPE! Any business is shaped like a pyramid! You've got the owner, then the CEO, then a few chairmen, then more stock holders, managers, and then hundreds of employees.... and if you're a franchise - a chain (chain letters! Oh my goodness!) then you have even more of a branched pyramid shape.
So what is a pyramid scheme?:
A pyramid scheme is an unsustainable business model that involves promising participants payment or services, primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, rather than supplying any real investment or sale of products or services to the public.
So a pyramid scheme is the same shape as any other business, but it does not offer a real product or service. Real MLM business models offer products and/or services.
The problem is, when you introduce MLM - which is a legitimate business model that many wealthy and famous entrepreneurs recommend - people automatically associate that with a pyramid scheme... without even knowing what that is. The name implies it's a shaped structure, but that is not the case. As you can see above, any business model - if you take a step back, has a pyramid shape, with 1 or a few people at the top (how does anything get started anyways?), more in the middle, and even more at the bottom (how do things continue growing once they've got started?). Because it was started by someone or a few people, and it's growing by many other people. Same with any other business.
With MLM, however, you could consider it as a very efficient and cheap way to own your own franchise. Every person, essentially, becomes a franchise owner instead of just another employee within the franchise. You could also think of MLM like a root system, every person that joins becomes a new part of the root system to help the WHOLE thing grow, and each root has the opportunity to have more and more roots and off-shoots attached to and growing from it.
Of course, as with anything, there were some people who were the ones to start it - so they are, understandably at the top. And it's going to continue to grow... so other people - understandably, will be at the bottom and in the middle. But the great thing about MLM is: EVERYBODY (bottom, middle, top) has the opportunity to grow!
Now about Dream Trips / World Ventures. First thing you need to understand is that Dream Trips is first and foremost a VACATION TRAVEL CLUB! That's it. It's a tangible service. And the people who started it created a business model to go around that service (our travel membership).
Now the business part of Dream Trips is World Ventures, and it's ONLY for those who want to participate. Which, if you're already doing Dream Trips, it just makes sense to do the business part as well... unless you really really reeeeaaaally don't want to share it with anyone else, which is unlikely. Our company is associated and partnered with many other well known companies and individuals, and we book vacations, travel, and accommodations using well known, well respected brands.
If you haven't already seen the video, which I suspect that you have, take 20 minutes to find out pretty much everything you need to know about Dream Trips and World Ventures:
